Plan International - Paraguay

illuminAid led a 4-day workshop with our partner, Plan International Paraguay, from May 31 to June 3, 2021. We trained and equipped our partner via video creation, editing, and dissemination techniques and strategies to more effectively promote the health and safety of girls and young women in Paraguay. Some of the workshop videos were created highlighting COVID-19 best practices (i.e. social distancing, wearing a mask, etc.) to exhibit to the most rural communities in Paraguay. Notably, workshop participants cast local children as the on-camera talent. Using community members and local dialects in videos is not a novelty, it is a key ingredient for effecting lasting behavior change.
Since 1994, Plan International Paraguay has been working in the community assisting and educating women and children to find safer housing and working conditions, making informed decisions about their health, helping them advocate for themselves, and training the women for advantageous employment.
illuminAid instructed workshop participants to understand how video can be an influential tool to circulate awareness and set in motion the knowledge necessary for a higher quality of life. Throughout the workshop, illuminAid learned about the treatment of young women and girls in Paraguay and the violence and hardships they face on a daily basis. With the help of our partner, girls and young women will be armed with useful information delivered in a manner that will leave an indelible mark on their lives in a way other educational methods can only dream about.
