GIZ - Pakistan

illuminAid conducted a five-day Video Education Workshop in Istanbul, Turkey for GIZ Pakistan staff and partner members from December 6 - 10, 2021. The participants consisted of staff from GIZ and the Pakistan government. We trained our partner on video creation, editing, and dissemination techniques and strategies to more effectively catalyze quality of life improvements to persons and promote a sense of stability in the vulnerable regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. We provided them with all the necessary tools, including camera, projectors, and solar kits. The videos created during the workshop focused on COVID prevention and local election participation.
The German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), with funding from the European Union, has already been assisting Pakistan with its re-integration work. To date, GIZ has primarily focused on expanding schools and health centers within the former FATA region, as well as providing training and qualifications for their personnel. Other objectives include working for more participation rights for women and other disadvantaged groups, and bridging the dialogue gap between government leaders and citizens. GIZ staff has regularly met with both community members from the former FATA region and government leaders. GIZ reports partners on both sides to be “committed” and have laid an “excellent basis for cooperation.”
illuminAid helped workshop participants understand how video can be an influential tool to circulate awareness and set in motion the knowledge necessary for a higher quality of life. Throughout the workshop, illuminAid learned about the obstacles facing some of the most remote communities on the Pakistan/Afghanistan border when it comes to reintegrating into regular Pakistan society.
