Updates from the Field!

Concern Universal in Guinea

In January 2016, OMPT went to Guinea to conduct an Ebola prevention project in partnership with Concern Universal. The goal of the project was to raise awareness at the community level about how to stop the spread of the deadly disease. The project ended in June 2016, and we have just received the final report. There were a total of six videos created emphasizing community sensitivity and awareness of Ebola. The videos were made available at 53 community health stations and border crossings in the region. Using OMPT’s training and technology, Concern Universal was able to hold 1153 sessions, which were attended by 101,945 community members. They noted that during viewing sessions people wanted to watch the videos over and over and were enthusiastic about the content. Because of the intervention, Concern Universal was able to reach more people and engage them on a deeper level resulting in deeper impact.

Plans for 2017!

OMPT is committed to bringing video technology and training wherever it is needed. We believe in the power of local and regional organizations to address the needs of their communities. OMPT has identified several organizations that would benefit from OMPT’s intervention, but lack the resources to conduct a project. These organizations are doing great work in areas of malaria prevention, improving educational opportunities for orphaned children, and more. Since OMPT aims to address the needs of the poorest communities, it is often difficult to find funding to support these much needed projects. You can check out all of OMPT’s project opportunities on our website.
