OMPT’s mission is to reduce poverty and empower the world's poorest one-billion people with knowledge by providing portable, self-powered audio-video instructional technology, content and training solutions to international organizations and instructors working to increase knowledge transfer in difficult and hard-to-reach communities.
Description: Founded in 2007 by Matt York, the publisher of Videomaker Magazine, One Media Player per Teacher works with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) on learning projects in critical areas of development. OMPT uses mp3 players, video cameras, pico projectors and other portable audio/visual tools as assistive technology for educational projects in areas where electricity is an inconsistent resource.
