Typical Program Elements:

Our process focuses on the needs of instructors working in very difficult conditions. A typical project involves a series of steps for implementation:

  1. Partner Engagement and Needs Assessment
  2. Project Specification and Solution Configuration
  3. A/V Equipment and Audio-Visual Content Procurement and/or Production
  4. Partner and Instructor Training in A/V Equipment and Instructional Methods
  5. Equipment Delivery and Deployment
  6. Site Visits, Field Assessments and Additional On-Site Training
  7. Monitoring and Evaluation Consultation and Participation

Technology Services: Evaluation, Sourcing and Design

For partners already using various A/V instructional tools, OMPT evaluates and recommends improved technology solutions. OMPT team members attend tradeshows throughout the world to meet engineers and vendors designing and selling equipment for use in challenging conditions typical in the developing world. We acquire the equipment, put it through a rigorous set of tests, and recommend improvements to the manufacturers.

The OMPT labs also conduct rigorous evaluations of rechargeable battery solutions used to power the media players, loudspeakers, micro-projectors, camcorders and other devices used in our A/V technology configurations. The solar, hand-crank and vehicle battery configurations are tested to operate in the extreme environments we expect they will encounter. For any of this equipment, OMPT can act as an intermediary for sourcing and shipping.
